Charlie Watkins

Charlie Watkins

Charlie is a music graduate, currently working for Grace Church Hackney. He writes on a variety of subjects, including the arts, theology, and public life. As a clarinettist, much of his work explores the physicality of sound, particularly the embodied nature of performance and listening. His interest and research into the work of John Cage has hugely influenced his practice, with time and silence forming integral elements of his approach. Often this means his performances are acts of physical endurance - utilising complex instrumental techniques, extended periods of extreme silence or noise, and intense concentration.
